June 28th. Ramble's. Atlanta Hawks worst managed franchise,

NBA

The draft is tonight and Im just anxious to see the alleged NBA trades to acquired picks.... Will Dwight be moved.... Will James Harden go to Charlotte for the 2 pick...... Houston Rockets trading up for the top 5 pick. It will be interesting to see along with who gets drafted 2-10

MLB

Recent Cuban defector Yasiel Puig is slated to sign with the LA Dodgers this weekend. The 21 yr old outfielder put up big numbers across the board in his respective country and is also said to be thee fastest player out of Cuba.....ummmmm okay. We'll see if he lives up to his potential once he gets called up to the Majors by mid-August.

NY Yankees Pitching Woes

The Yankees have put C.C. Sabathia and Andy Pettite on the DL yesterday and the Yankees are currently short handed in the starting rotation. The Yanks have moved former starter Freddy Garcia from the bullpen to the starting rotation and called up RHP Adam Warren from Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre to fill the void. Since the Yankees are riding a hot streak in the month of June they should see a dip in production in pitching but I would not worry as much seeing the Yankees as a offensive scoring machine countering the lack of pitching.

NHL

Penguins star Sidney Crosby signed a 12 yr 104 million dollar deal today. The 24 yr old all-star have been battling post concussion symptoms for the past year and a half is looking to rebound from injury this upcoming season. Its a big risk he is prone to injuries and he may not live up to his expectations once signed. But I think he'll have a good career along with Evgeni Malkin bring multiple titles back to Pittsburgh.

NCAA

Im all for the new BCS Championship and all, but I'd rather see 8 teams then the original four. But this doe eliminate the dumb BCS bowl system which I do like cause in the past 7 yrs there were alot of teams snubbed even my U of M Wolverines who shoulda played OSU back in 07 but its all good. Im amped for the upcoming season and watch out for U of M we gonna make out presence felt again out the Big 10.

Worst Managed Franchise Ever

    Atlanta Hawks

In recent years we have seen the Atlanta Hawks make boneheaded decisions as far as re-signing players, drafting players or even trading for unnecessary players in the process. But little to know that has always been the Hawks way of handling things even as far as 1974. The Hawks in the early 70's were on of the leagues up and coming team in the NBA with hall of famers Lou Hudson, Walt Bellamy and Pete Maravich. By the mid 70's Maravich had left for the Jazz... Hudson was at the last end of his career along with Bellamy the Hawks had hopes of becoming contenders with their 1975 draft picks but to no avail their first overall pick David Thompson shook the Hawks for a ABA franchise and Marvin Webster followed both signing with the Denver Nuggets. Ted Turner bought the team in 77 and over the next 5 they made the playoffs but never made it out the 1st round. The Dominique Wilkins era began in 1982 and throughout his reign in Atlanta they made the playoffs 8 times out of the 11 yrs but never made it past the Eastern semi's buuuuut thats when the stupidity of the Hawks franchise began

1.1993, Hawks trade Dominique Wilkins to LAC for Danny Manning(Who was a injury prone daft bust)
2.1999, Trades Steve Smith to Portland for Isaiah Rider and Jimmy Jackson----- That was a disaster
3.2003, One game rental of Rasheed Wallace
4.2005, Drafted Marvin Williams before Chris Paul and Deron Williams
5.2006, Drafted Shelden Williams (Bust) before Rudy Gay
6.2009 Overpays ZaZa Pachulia
7.2010 Severely overpays Joe Johnson
8.2011 Refuses to pay Jamal Crawford who won 6th man of the year the yr before
9.2011 Resigning of both Jerry Stackhouse and Jason Collins
10.2011. Restructuring the deal of Marvin Williams

The Atlanta Hawks itself is not a smart franchise overpaying a 29 yr old all that money was nota good movr. Tacking on Kirk Hinrichs big deal is not smart and also retaining ZaZa Pachulia is not the best move. The team exceeded the salary cap and cannot even sign a MLE player. If I was GM I would amnesty Williams, Trade Joe Johnson if I can and and sign some veteran players to help with Smith, Teague and Horford... By far the Hawks management is terrible of all sport next to the Edmonton Oilers and LAC Clippers.

Fun Stuff

Back in the day there were a large number of NBA players who actually recorded rap material. Shaq, Danna Barros, Jason Kidd and the late Malik Sealy recorded a CD called B-Balls Best Kept Secret in 94 with guest appearances by rappers from Brand Nubian, Warren G and DU's Money-B. Today there are a few players who drops mixtapes like Stephen Jackson, Ron Artest but the best rapper in the NBA right now is 6ers pg Lou Williams here's a few of the tracks from back in the day along will Lou's freestyles

June 27th, 2012 NBA Draft, MLB and Boxing, Drugs and Sports.... Top 10 craziest Athletes

NBA

The 2012 NBA Draft is 24 hours away and the first pick for the Hornets are set on Anthony Davis. Picks 2-9 have flip flopped over the past 10 days in the wake of Ohio State's Jared Sullinger and the red flag about his bad back which hampered his draft stock and raised questions about his NBA career. Charlotte holds the number 2 pick and there are rumors that the Bobcats could trade the 2 pick in hopes of getting a star player that would serve as a complementary piece to the young Bobcats team. The 3rd pick goes to the Wizard that could really use a offensive scorer that could help John Wall and Jordan Crawford. If available Washington could draft Bradley Beal, or Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. 4. Cleveland Cavaliers. The franchise is over the LeBron era and is looking to rebuild in for the future. With promising young point guard Kyrie Irving and defensive PF Tristan Thompson the Cavs are looking for a upgrade in the SG or PF position. Expect the Cavs to draft IF available Bradley Beal, Thomas Robinson, or Andre Drummond.  The 5th pick for the Sacramento Kings would have to go to Andre Drummond. The Kings have a good front court with DeMarcus Cousins and the defensive Chuck Hayes. The Kings could either make a run for Damian Lilliard the 6-3 combo guard to help move the offensive for Tyreke Evans and give another scoring forefront. Thats my opinion with the top 5 picks for this year's NBA draft

Trades.
Bobcats trades Corey Maggette to Detroit for G Ben Gordon and a future first round pick.

I think the move is good for both teams Charlotte because they get another scorer at SG something they really lacked this past season. Although Gordon hasn't been the same since he left Chicago we can expect a 16 pt outing from him off the bench. Pistons acquire Maggette whose 11 million dollar contract is expiring after the season. Maggette who is a injury prone player can be viewed as a one yr rental for the Pistons can give you 15 off the bench IF healthy.

Rockets trade Chase Budinger to T'Wolves for 1st round pick
Good acquisition by both teams. Rockets who already have 2 picks gains another one with the Budinger trade as they are shaping up there roster to trade for a top 8 pick in hopes of landing a premier player most notably Dwight Howard. The Wolves get Budinger an athletic SF who can spread the court. wolves who are not expected to re-sign Martell Webster would be a great addition to the young T'Wolves squad.

Rockets trade Samuel Dalembert and draft pick to Bucks for Jon Leur, Shawn Livingston and a draft pick

MLB

The AL East is still up and jumping and the Red Sox and Yankees are starting to make runs.....NOOOOOO
I want the Orioles and Blue Jays up there just to see some new faces emerge out the powerhouse division

My Detroit Tigers are 2.5 back of the White Sox. Im not concerned at all seeing the Sox are injury prone and the Indians never cease to regain composure in July... Tigers will advance and win the AL central

Nats are still atop. Bryce Harper is becoming a force out in DC and the strong pitching of Strasburg, Gonzalez and Clippard strengthens Nats fan for a playoff birth but.......... Strasburg's health is an issue... Strasburg who had Tommy John surgery almost 2 yrs ago is a concern about the innings pitch in which Davey Johnson stated he would shut down Strasburg if he exceeds his limit eve through a pennant race. I doubt he does lets give the Nats fan something to cheer about.

Always remember thee original Montreal Expos

CC Sabathia
Sabathia was placed on the 15 day DL with a strained muscle..... Dont worry he is only expected to miss 2 starts

Andy Pettite left todays game with a ankle fracture he is out 6-8 weeks

Sports, Drugs and Entertainment

In the 1980's in height of the crack cocaine epidemic many lives were ravaged especially in the sports world. Crack cocaine plagued hundred of thousands of lives and also impacted several prominent sporting figures in the 1980's. There were several drug controversies as well late baseball commissioner Bowie Kuhn suspended several MLB players for positive drug tests and there was a well documented use of cocaine amongst several Pittsburgh Pirate players. It was famously known as "The Pittsburgh Drug Trials" There were alot of players who were affected remember Tim "Rock" Raines the 7 times all-star and 2 time world series champ had a serious cocaine addiction and even hid the drug in his back pockets during games. Or Dennis "Oil Can" Boyd a former pitcher of the Red Sox recently admitted he was high off cocaine every time he took the mound in 86. Floyd Youmans who was a prized pitcher for the Expos for 1 year and become hooked on crack cocaine and never was able to fully live up to his potential. Dwight Gooden too became a cocaine user and his career derailed and ravaged his personal life. In the NBA it had a major impact too. Len Bias was slated to carry on the success of the Boston Celtics after he was drafted in 1986, died two days after draft night due to a drug overdose. The next draft pick after Bias was C Chris Washburn who had the talent to be a prominent big man in the NBA, he too had a cocaine addiction which ultimately killed his career before it even started. That year a few players from the Phoenix Suns were caught in a cocaine scandal that troubled a few players on that Suns team.  Since then we don't hear many of these stories but this shows how a powerful substance can take us under.

Fun Stuff

These athletes will forever be known for their wild, outrageous I don't give a f*** type behavior. There wee a few that had great careers but they may forever be remembered for there several on the court/field and personal stupidity lol

10. Vernon Maxwell

The former champion with the Rockets had great talent but his behavior and violent incidents have held back Vernon Maxwell from reaching his full potential. Nicknamed "Mad Max" Bad news have followed him from his time from FSU until he retired. He once went in the stands and punched a fan in the face. He cracked his teammate Carl Herrera in the head with a barbell that caused him to have over 35 stitches and went M.I.A. when the Rockets acquired Clyde Drexler in a trade. Over the years Max been arrested and his his tumultuous life seems to conquer him

9. Tonya Harding

Her 1994 attack on Nancy Kerrigan will always overshadow her figure skating career. Since then she has been in American media appearing on VH1 and a countless number of other shows

8. John McEnroe
File:John McEnroe Roland Garros 2012.JPG

3 time Wimbledon winner John McEnroe had a great career accompanied with his child like temper tantrums on the tennis court that made alot of his tennis matches memorable. His bizarre behavior gave this cat the number 8th spot

7. Ryan Leaf
Ryan Leaf's behavior is more entertaining then his career itself. A high prized college recruit and 2nd overall pick in the 97 draft is regarded a huge bust. After series of arrests and outlandish behavior he get awarded a 7th spot LOL

6. Milton Bradley
Former MLB player Milt Bradley was one of the leagues up and coming prospects but his wild behavior caught up with him everywhere he played in Cleveland he was suspended a few times for his run ins with umpires and in San Diego he tore his ACL being restrained by manager for arguing with an umpire smh he just gets number 6 on my list for his corniness on the field lol

5. Bill Romanowski
Bill Romanowski
A gifted LB at one time in his career but his steroid raged behavior raised serious flags about his character. He once beat up his teammate and crushed his eye socket in training camp with Oakland and most memorable incident when he spit it 49ers receiver J.J. Stokes face has earned him a lottery pick in my list LOL
4. Terrell Owens
Since his early career TO has been a headache everywhere he went. His controversy with Jeff Garcia in San Fran.. His problems in Philly with McNabb and Hugh Douglas his character has been hard to bare at times and yet tiring. Although he could be entertaining his attention seeking ways have made him seem more of a nut case than a actual media primadonna and elite player

3. Metta World Peace
Former All-Star and 2004 defensive player of the year Ron Artest aka "Metta" has been overshadowed by his crazy behavior on the court. Suspended more than 12 times throughout his 13 yr career will always be remembered for going into the stands in Auburn Hills and assaulting fans, his flagrant elbow to the head of James Harden and his camera smashing incident at Madison Square will always follow Metta's career. He is a good guy off the court but his ill-mannered behavior will forever overshadow his accomplishments off the court.

2. Mike Tyson
Iron Mike was one of the best fighters in the heavyweight division in the mid to late 80's but his crazy ass behavior has earned Mike Tyson a reputation outside the ring and also in the ring. His 3 yr prison sentence and his bite on Evander Holyfield have marked Tyson's rep as one of the most nuttiest athletes of all time.

1. OJ Simpson
He's one dumb mothaf***** PERIOD*******

Never forget the OJ everybody loved

Feel The Heat Miami Heat

Tonight the Miami Heat face up against the ageless wondered Boston Celtics. In a seesaw battle between the the Big 3's this series became one of the best series in the NBA playoffs last yr. Game 2's performance by Rajon Rondo was overshadowed Thursday by LeBron James 45 pts, 15 rebs and 5 assists capped one of the best solo performances of all-time. Being down 3-2 and given little hope LeBron James single handedly took down the Boston Celtics to force a pivotal game 7. I am amped for tonight's match up a and I am riding with Miami to close it out, but all eyes are on LeBron James. Can he have another sensational performance? I doubt he will drop 40+ tonight but look for Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to have a good game to go on to advance in the NBA finals.
Projection Miami 103 -94 LeBron 28, 12, 6

Keys to Victory Miami
-Fast Break points with the aging Celtics crippled with injuries push the ball on the break to wear Bos down
-Chris Bosh needs to play at least 32 mins and crash the boards his athleticism in the post can cause foul trouble for Bos losing Bass or Garnett is essential
-Mike Miller, Mario Chalmers must keep it coming from beyond the arch
-LeBron has to have another stellar game on both the offensive and defensive end
-Udonis Haslem must be the hidden gem in this game. His late game efforts are key in which we saw in a few games this playoffs.
-Strong defense by Shane Battier. His presence caused key turnovers in this series mainly against Brandon Bass.

Keys to Victory Boston
-RONDO must play a hell of a game a similar game 2 performance to win this game.
-Stay out of foul trouble Bass and Pierce are prone to getting into foul trouble these playoffs.
-Consistency from both Ray Allen and Paul Pierce they must be able to assure success in this game.
-Bench with Stiemsma, Dooling and Pietrus must have bring it on the offensive and defensive end. After a quiet game 6 I expect both KD, and and Mikael Pietrus to contribute off the bench and play smart ball.
-Kevin Garnett must be effective on the rebounding end. Garnett one of the stars in the series must crash the boards and help stabilize the Celtics offensive presence by getting offensive rebounding and drawing fouls on the Heats bigs. If Bosh, Haslem or Anthony are in foul trouble Boston must exploit the post to garner a game 7 victory

MLB Another No Hitter

In the past 3 years there have been a countless number of no-hitters thrown in which were a rarity in the 90's. Last night the The Seattle Mariners threw a no-hitter against the LA Dodgers not by 1 but by 6 different pitchers. Starting pitcher Kevin Millwood threw 6 no hit innings before being pulled with a groin injury. Charlie Furbush relieved Millwood and the Mariners used a different pitcher each inning before closing it out with a 1-0 victory on the Dodgers.
******Note Prior to last night night there were 4 no-hitters thrown in MLB history involving three or more pitchers. Last time June 11th, 2003 Houston Astros no hit the NY Yankees with 6 combined pitchers

NHL
LA Kings vs NJ Devils. I love Martin Brodeur and I'd love to see him get his 4th ring but I seriously doubt that the devils come back down 0-3 to win the Cup. I see the Devils winning this game and forcing a game 6 though.

Boxing

There is plenty of buzz about the potential for a Bradley victory.

The dream match up between Manny "Pac-Man" Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather has been pushed off but tonight Manny faces 28 year old Timothy Bradley an undefeated boxer hailing from Southern Cali. I expect this to be a great fight although they fight during the Celtics and Heat game I'll catch the bout on HBO later this upcoming week. Pac-Man will win the fight and had Bradley his first loss. The fight will go the whole 12

Personal rants

My Tigers stay losing and the Indians and White Sox are winning NO BUENO smh

NFL

Ocho NoNo

The Pats have announced that they are releasing the ever entertaining Chad Ocho Cinco after a dismal yr in New England.  Ocho Cinco had career lows in every statistical category in New England and the 34 yr old is looking to rebound his career. Miami, Oakland, Jacksonville and Tennessee expressed interest in signing Ocho. Favorable destination HOME Miami Dolphins baby.

Interesting Person in sports

R.A. Dickey is not the typical MLB pitcher you see on TV but if you see his youtube clips he comes off as one of the nicest athletes you'll ever meet. He may be on the same level as Giants pitcher Brian Wilson but the 37 year old NY Mets pitcher is one of the most interesting athletes of all sports. This past off-season he almost risked his 4.5 million dollar contract to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in efforts to raise money for charity. And also published a book called  "Wherever I wind up: My quest for truth" It is a good book and I recommend everyone to read the book as he shares his ups and downs with teenage years and his personal struggles dealing with fame and popularity in majors. Good read.
