NBA Free-Agency
There have been rapid transactions left to right and the free agent frenzy is far from over. The biggest free-agent name left on the market is O.J. Mayo who is in serious talks with the Bulls, Suns and Pacers. Mayo 24, who averaged a little over 12 pts a game this past year is looking to unleash his potential in a new uniform. After two strong first seasons in the league Mayo's production dropped from 17 pts game to a mere 12 a game. I like his potential and his best case scenario is to join the rebuilding Phoenix Suns franchise who recently added Dragic, Beasley and Marshall to the mix. They can be a solid team for years to come.

This has been a very eventful week in NY sports most notably for the NY Knicks who have more issues of their own dealing with Jason Kidd and Jeremy Lin. Just last week the Knicks signed Jason Kidd to a 3 yr deal which left people wondering about the future of Jeremy Lin. A few days later the Knicks acquire Raymond Felton in a trade with Portland pretty much leaving Lin's future in NY out the window. The Houston Rockets offered Lin a 3 yr 25 million dollar deal. Its smart that the Knicks don't match Lin's offer sheet from Houston on CBA constraints of being penalized for being over the cap. They have much invested in Anthony, Stoudemire and Chandler why carry the extra baggage by a player who only shined for 25 games?. I like Lin and all he's a great success story but he is not worth 25 million. We'll see how this plays out but he's for certain gonna be a Rocket. Will he average 15, 7, 4 a game ? who knows lets not get two caught up in the hype like we were back in the day with Flip Murray.... Similar numbers but could not duplicate the success onwards. Other news Jason Kidd was so drunk off the ass the other night he was arrested for DWI LMAO video footage and a mugshot has emerged and I swear that stuff is soooooo funny the mugshot explains it
Superman debacle
Myself, along with millions of other sports fan are tired of Dwight Howard's demands. Being the face of the NBA franchise for the past 8 yrs in Orlando the increasingly annoyed Howard wants out of Orlando. During the season it was reported that Howard was interested in a few teams.... Since then there has been one team on his list and one team only... The Brooklyn Nets. Howard who hoped to team with Deron Williams and have a supporting cast pushed the Magic management to trade Howard but unfortunately the talks stalled. The Nets moved on by re-signing Brook Lopez and adding CJ Watson into the mix. Howard's best scenario is to expand his preferred destination list or just flat out go to Los Angeles Lakers. He really screwed up by picking up his option he should have declined so we wouldn't be talking about this right now -__-. Bummer

Today Ray Rice and Matt Forte got what they been wishing for..... A big payday. Rice who rushed for a career high 1364 rushing yds and 12 TD's cashed in with a 5 yr 40 million dollar deal. Congrats you deserved it.
Matt Forte also cashed in on a 4 yr 32 million dollar deal. The Bears feature back who was on his way to a career high but missed 4 games to a MCL sprain cashed in on a big contract. Forte who is primarily the Bears offense has gained a key player in Brandon Marshall. Be on the lookout for the Bears this yr they have the go to WR for Cutler and the Defense to contend in the NFC North.

Penn State Scandal.
In the past week there has been ground breaking information that late PSU coach Joe Paterno did indeed know about Jerry Sandusky's child molestation accusations and most shockingly was involved in the cover up to avoid possible sanctions and police intervention if the case became public. Investigators recently found almost 1 million e-mails and written notes that were shared between PSU officials and Joe Paterno which showed in fact Paterno kept quite about the situation. The initial report was that Paterno concluded with AD Tim Curley about the situation and believed that Penn State would forward the info to the police. Once the news broke Penn State was rocked and heavily impacted Paterno, Curley, Spagnier were fired and less than one month later Joe Pa passed from complications related to cancer. What does this all means? Will Joe Pa's status as one of the best coaches ever will be tainted? Will Penn State undergo the death penalty? It's sad that it had to come to this. A man who dedicated his life to PSU died a ravaged man. Not let to defend himself we will have to see how this scandal fairs out. Sandusky will die in prison and the legacy of PSU is left in smoke. For now on we will remember Joe Pa for this controversial matter than his accomplishments on the field.
MLB.
The pennant races are heating up in all divisions, AL Central, AL East, NL Central, and NL East. I am so ready to see what my Tigers will do in the stretch of the second half. With this yrs trade deadline in 2 weeks we gotta make a run for a starting pitcher Im in favor of acquiring Ryan Dempster, or Wandy Rodriguez. The Washington Nationals I am rooting for our out the NL East is a good story. The big issue remains the health of Stephen Strasburg if he exceeds the 200 IP. Also a great story emerging is out the NL central the Pittsburgh Pirates are in first place after 20 damn years of losing the city has something to cheer about. I hope they keep it up its been since 1992 when they were relevant. The team who had Doug Drabek, Barry Bonds and Jay Bell those NLCS Pirates. I hope they finish strong we need to see some new faces in the playoffs besides the Phillies this yr. Go Buco's
Most interesting story
Have any of you heard of Lloyd Daniels? He was one of the greatest NY playground legends next to Earl Manigault at the time. Daniels had the potential to be one of the best basketball players some sources say. He was the best story never told. Daniels in the mid-80's was one of the biggest recruits in the country, but there was a big problem. Daniels was a high school drop out and according to a sports illustrated article (1994, November issue) Daniels could only read at a 3rd grade level. Former UNLV coach Jerry Tarkanian worked some leeway to get Daniels in at UNLV but unfortunately that ride ended before it could even start. Daniels was arrested for possession of crack cocaine first semester and was sent packing. Daniels returned to NY and entered a drug treatment program for his cocaine addiction. Shortly after he was shot multiple times in the spring of 1989. After that he went on and bounced around many CBA teams and had a few stints overseas, but Daniels showed a flash of brilliance averaging over 16 a game in various leagues. In 1992, good news came Daniels Tarkanian the man who gave Daniels a shot at UNLV gave him a shot again this time with the San Antonio Spurs. Sean Elliot went down with a injury so they brought in Daniels on a 10 day contract and he did not disappoint during those 12 games he averaged over 18 pts a game. When Elliot returned from injury he was served as a 6th man for the remainder of the season. The Spurs kept him around for the 93-94 yr and after that sent him off to Philadelphia. After his sting in Philly he bounced around several teams and went back overseas. Daniels retired from basketball in 2005 and his runs several camps in the NY area. He was a great player with talent but the tales of drugs and stardom tends to hamper ones career. The greatest story never told.
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\Top 10
Focuses on the biggest career sabotages of all-time. Players who pretty much ended their own career.
10. Demetruis DuBose
After a stellar career at Notre Dame the former LB seem to lost interest in the game once he stepped on the field. With his bizarre behavior and drug use Dubose potential was halted and he never was able to peak and live up to the hype. He pretty much quit the game under his own power and lived an eccentric life. It all came to an end in July of 1999 after he was involved in a altercation with police officers. Reports stated that DuBose reached for a officers handgun and they retrieved fire wounding him 12 times. Autopsy reports shows that there were numerous drugs in his system at the time of his death. Sad story

The Panthers released him after the incident and Carruth remained a fugitive until he was caught the next month. He was found guilty and was sentenced to 20 yrs in 18 yrs in prison.
6 Rafael Palmeiro
On the way to a hall of fame career and joining the 3,000 hit club all his great images have came to an abrubt end after he tested positive for steroids in 2005. Palmeiro had almost 600 HR's tested positive and the Orioles parted ways with him ending his 19 yr reign. In 2012 a hall of fame candidate he only received 11% of the 75% vote. Im sure he will never get in but sad he had to go out like this.
5. Isaiah Rider

The high flying Isaiah Rider was entertaining to watch to watch in 94. A UNLV product and the master of the east bay funk dunk his career was great for 3 years until he ruined it his damn self. He had issues on and off the court. In college and in the NBA. After his trade to Denver in 2001 the 30 yr old Rider just quit the game of basketball and since then he has lived a life of crime most recently being arrested on kidnapping charges just last yr smfh
4. Latrell Sprewell
Sprewell enjoyed some success in the NBA. A good 6 yrs in GS came to an abrupt but yet controversial end when he choked head coach PJ Carleismo in the winter of 1997. Sprewell was known to have physical altercations with teammates during his tenure at GSW looked to repair his image elsewhere. He went to NY Knicks the next yr and lead them to their first NBA finals appearance since 94. Later he was traded to the T'Wolves were he and KG became a duo out the west. After averaging 18 a game in Minnesota his contract yr he turned down a 3 yr 21 million dollar deal......................STUPID..... His most known phrase "I got mouths to feed" Since then his rim company declined and his property foreclosed now knowing he regret turning down that deal.
3. Steve Howe
Former Closer and potential to be a great closer. Steve Howe career was marked with alcohol and cocaine abuse that hurt is career for 10 yrs. He was suspended multiple times after he won ROY in 1980 and went on a 4 yr hiatus from baseball. He retired after 1996 and went on to be a truck driver and a carpenter. He died in a car accident in 2006 but he will always be remembered for his demons then his accomplishments.

A pro bowl and a super bowl punch in 2002 ended Barrett Robbins career not after the super bowl but the night of. Robbins, who suffers from Bi-Polar failed to take his medication prior to practice and went AWOL. When he returned back later that night coach Callahan left him off the super bowl roster. More troubles were son to follow. He began abusing cocaine, steroids and alcohol and his career ended and his brushes with the law began hard to bare.

After his release he had 2 bouts with Holyfield lost those 2 and one to Lennox Lewis and Iron Mike's career was over sad to see this happened but you still catch Mike around on TV making cameo appearances every now and then
